Laptop Cooling Stand
If you like to use your laptop while you are in bed, you should think about using a laptop cooling stand to make sure that your computer does not overheat while you are using it. Even though laptops have built-in fans, if you have the computer in bed with you, it is probably going to be sitting on your blankets, which could cover up the vents and keep the fans from working properly, or even cause them to not work at all. When this happens, it takes no time at all for a laptop to overheat, and then you could be in trouble, because it is not going to work properly.
What Happens When a Laptop Overheats?
Most of the time, when a laptop computer overheats, it is simply going to shut itself off so it can start to cool off. This can be a real pain in the you-know-what if you are right in the middle of working on something, or having a great chat with one of your friends. If it only happens once in a while, overheating is probably not going to do a whole lot of damage to your laptop. But, if it is happening all the time, after a while, your computer is not going to work nearly as well as it once did, and after a while, it may not work at all. If you are using a laptop cooling stand, you won’t have this problem, because it will keep the laptop from overheating.
Things You Can Use As a Laptop Stand
Until you can go out and buy a real laptop stand, there are things you can do that will work for the time being. If you have a small artist’s easel, you can use this to prop up your computer and to keep it from overheating. The easel will hold the computer nicely, and because the laptop is not going to be touching you or your blankets, it is not going to be as likely to overheat. Of course, an easel does not have a built-in fan, but it is better than nothing. If you do not have an easel, you can even use an old TV tray that has legs. It will also keep the computer propped up and away from the blankets.
It’s nice to have a laptop computer, and it can be great to use while you are in bed. You can read things when you are not sleepy, but still be nice and comfortable, or you can even watch movies. Just make sure that if you are using a laptop in bed that you are using a laptop cooling stand in order to keep your expensive computer from overheating and not working properly.
